What Would Happen to Your Kids if the Unthinkable Happened to You?

Did you know that guardianship selection in a Will only applies after you die? And only after someone finds your Will, and a Judge who doesn’t know you or your family may decide who will raise your children…How long will your children have to wait with the wrong person before the paperwork is sorted out?

The Child Safety Net System™️ was created by the founding attorney at Fine Point Law, Roxanne Olson. As a mother of two, Roxanne saw that traditional estate planning leaves a serious gap when it comes to protecting young children. The Child Safety Net System™️ sets your child up for immediate caretaking if you are suddenly unavailable for any reason. This includes:

  • Proprietary legal documents with the required language for the school and medical system
  • Ability to name temporary guardians/caregivers while on vacation or in an emergency
  • Provide notification to EMS, FIRE or POLICE that you have Family First Responders
  • Prevent your children from being placed in the custody of Child Protective Services
  • Provide medical authorization or HIPAA releases for temporary caregivers
  • Directly exclude a family member from the ability to act as a guardian to your children

Our proprietary Child Safety Net System is included in even our most basic estate plan package because your child is our top priority. Estate Planning with us starts with a Legacy Planning Session.

Not ready for a Legacy Planning Session, but still want to get started on guardianship right away?

The inner circle program

Fine Point Law's Inner Circle program was created by our founding attorney, Roxanne Olson, after her mother lost her home in a Typhoon in Yutu, over 5,000 miles away. It was crushing to be so far away. It was also frustrating to have to dig through old Facebook posts and emails to connect with her mom’s local family of friends to coordinate help in the days after the disaster struck.

Now, there’s a better way.

The Inner Circle Program enables your family and friends to be in close contact with each other in case something happens to you. Let’s set up your Inner Circle because…

  • Your family and friends need to be able to easily contact each other in an emergency.
  • If you get dementia or some other type of confusion, it’s vital that your family knows who you trusted before… and who you didn’t.
  • If you are nursing an injury and need a meal train, transportation, or hospital visits, it’s critical that your friends and family coordinate.
  • If you go missing, your friends and family need to be able to communicate easily. Maybe you just forgot your phone and your worried child can be soothed with a call to your friend.
  • If your friends or family throw you a surprise birthday bash, they need to know who to invite!
  • If you die, you want all of the people you love most to be invited to your memorial.

…and for so much more

The Fledgling plan

Help your young adult child do Basic Estate Planning so you can be there for them in an emergency.

Once a child turns 18, parents lose the legal ability to make decisions for their child or even to find out basic information.

This is a period of life with so much transition, and the possibilities are endless. Some young adults join the workforce or military, some move out of town to attend college, and some even take gap years to travel the world! No matter what your child choses, they are still your child.

It's so important to create a safety net so their trusted loved ones can step in during an emergency - whether that be nominating mom or dad as their financial power of attorney to take care of their expenses if they become incapacitated, nominating their older sibling to make sure their healthcare wishes are followed during hospitalization, or granting HIPAA authorization to the friends and family members they want by their side in the hospital, estate planning is important for young people, too.

The true legacy interview

Our True Legacy Interview is the way our clients leave messages full of love for their families.

Traditional estate planning tends to center around your monetary assets, and while that's super important, people should also have a way to pass down their values, family stories, and history (or anything they feel strongly about!).

Your legacy is worth more than just your money.

At Fine Point Law, we offer a free True Legacy Interview with every estate plan - that way, your kids, grandkids, and other loved ones can have it to pass down and watch to remember you.

3 year Estate plan reviews

Laws change, assets change, and people change. Your Estate Plan should be a Living Document that evolves with all your life changes - so it works when your family needs it the most.

We generally advise clients to update their legal documents at least every 3 years. Laws especially can change a lot in a short amount of time; just think about the differences between the Trump and Biden administration! If your plan is not properly updated over time, your documents can become worthless – worth no more than the paper they were printed on.

That's why we offer a free 3 year review for all of our Estate Planning Clients.

We also offer annual reviews for clients who anticipate a lot of change in the near future as part of our Membership program. Scroll down to learn more!

VIP personal counsel membership

We're not just your lawyer. We strive to be trusted advisors for your whole family; for your life, and for future generations.

Our VIP Personal Counsel Membership programs allow us to care for you and your family throughout all life’s stages. At most estate planning law firms, the relationship with your attorney ends when you sign your Trust or Will. At Fine Point Law, we see the signing of your estate planning documents as just the beginning of our relationship with your family.

Over time, your assets will change, your family will change, the law will change, and your life will change. Your plan must accommodate all of these changes for everything to work when your family needs it most. We always include a free 3 year Estate Plan review for our clients. Some clients may require more frequent check-ins and we offer higher levels of membership for those clients.

Some of the Benefits Provided Under Our Membership Plans include:

  • Annual Plan Review to check for outdated language
  • Plan Amendments
  • Annual Membership in a service that provides 24/7 online access to health care and guardianship documents
  • Substantial discounts on our fees for advising your loved ones after you’re gone
  • Annual Review of Your Assets and Update of Your Asset Spreadsheet

And much more, including valuable membership enrollment bonuses
